racoon nest

Raccoon nesting above our kitchen… again!

What can you do?!  Lucy had her babies in this spot, a small triangular area where the kitchen addition, the covered deck and the original house come together.  We don’t think they’re Lucy’s babies this time, likely Logan’s or Taylor’s.  I heard that mothballs are smelly and a good deterrent for raccoons but they must have felt that this was a safe spot even with the smell from the mothballs.  We have coyotes around here and we want a safe place for them, but prefer not in the house!

I had planned on filling that space with insulation foam last Summer.  Will have to wait until the babies are out of their nest now!
